Applied Game Theory Presentation Series

Princeton Digital Laboratory is developing a public education series exploring economic science through the lens of board games. Each session uses a familiar game — such as UNO, Ticket to Ride, or Heroes of Barcadia — as a live laboratory to illustrate core concepts from game theory, behavioral economics, and decision science.

Drawing on foundational work by Von Neumann & Morgenstern, Kahneman & Tversky, Spence, Myerson, and others, the series translates rigorous academic frameworks into accessible, interactive experiences for general audiences. Sessions are designed around Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development — meeting participants where they are and scaffolding toward deeper insight.

The series bridges academic research and community engagement, with presentations targeting both public venues and academic settings.
